Home Renovations

Good morning!

Here is a quick update on our home renovations. Kathy, my dear sis, this post is dedicated to you. Thank you for reminding me that I’ve not posted any recent pics of our progress. 😀 Okay, here’s the demo in progress (focusing on the kitchen):

The window guy should have been here for the last two weeks, but due to his busy schedule and the rain, it just hasn’t happened. Today’s forecast doesn’t look any better. 🙁 Anyway, this next week will center on getting the new kitchen/dining room floor installed. Yay! It should be arriving today. Bryan and Scott are going to repair the sub-floor first, and then we’ll be installing the new laminate flooring I fell in love with when we visited Maxie B’s in Greensboro. Our new home has gorgeous hardwood floors EXCEPT in the kitchen and dining room space. Here’s what we’re installing:

Pretty snazzy, eh? Fortunately for me, the owner of Maxie B’s is an avid blogger and likes to document the products they used in their decorating process. The above is Faus Flooring in Cottage Oak White.

Also, the gangly, homely trees will be cut down this week. YES! I usually think all trees are beautiful in the same way as all babies are cute . . . but I don’t know. Something happened with these trees.

There you have it! I didn’t touch the bathroom demolition in this blog, but I’ll get to that very soon. I have a house to sell today. Over and out!

Isn’t Life Grand?

Our Ikea Adventure

Kitchen BeforeStyle Goal

Okay, all my fellow home renovating, decorating people . . . today is the start of a fun adventure for Bryan and me. We’re going to head over to Ikea and set up an appointment (can’t do that over the phone; must be there in person); hence, the early departure. Right now we are working on the kitchen, and we’re aiming for the cottage look. This has long been a desire of mine, and Bryan is totally cool with it and gives me free reign with plenty of helpful, guiding advice as well. Here’s a pic of the cabinets that we’re going to use.

I think I’m going to try my hand at laying subway tile for the backsplash. I used to help lay tile waaaaaayyyy back in the day when I was growing up as my parents built custom homes. That’s been a desire of mine for quite a while as well.

We’ll keep ya posted on the process!
